Roxas, a boy whom fortune would never favor. He was literally born to be used as a tool for a greater purpose. Day after day, he'd been given the same task, told to venture out into the mortal realm to collect hearts from the heartless who hungrily stole them from the innocent. He did not do it with the thought that he would somehow be able to obtain a heart to call his own, but rather, because he had no choice. His destiny was determined by the Nobodies who came before him. The youngest, SMALLEST member of the Organization was to remain mindless and loyal, doing what he was told without question or objection.
All that changed when he disappeared from their ranks for an extended period. The Superior had ordered his destruction and had cruelly sent his best friend Axel to carry out his wishes. Now, he was worthless to them, tainted by knowledge, DANGEROUS knowledge, that he should not yet possess.
Saïx would watch as his helpless underlings were roughly washed down the hallway. Most of the bodies remained limp and stiff, as though they were unsure what was happening and had chosen to simply go with the flow. His fingers would unfurl from Demyx throat, reopening the passageway of his trachea to allow precious air through.
"I am forever disappointed in you, Demyx." He would speak, his voice dripping with something... dark and foreboding. "The two of you are absolutely FOOLISH, continuing to chase a friendship that doesn't exist. Do not forget, Roxas abandoned you both when he parted on his own selfish journey. He did not seem to care that you would suffer in the interim."
Saïx's lips curled in disgust. "The insubordination you displayed is enough for me to recommend that you be Dusked the moment Kingdom Hearts reaches the highest point in the sky tonight. However, I am not going to report your actions to the Superior just yet. I'd like for you to do something for me. But first, I'd like to see the boy."

Demyx sucked in a much needed breath as soon as Saïx released him, collapsing to the floor and onto his knees when he was let go. The water around the two remaining Nobodies began to lower and soon disappeared out of the hallway. His chest heaved for a moment as he caught his breath, water dripping down the sides of his face from the rush of his element that had momentarily filled the hall.
Saïx's words hit a sensitive spot in Demyx's mind; Roxas had abandoned both him and Axel. The friendship they had once had been one of the few things that had kept Demyx going. It may have been an illusion of it, but that friendship had kept Demyx's sanity for the longest time. To hear the Luna Diviner brush it off so lightly as something that didn't exist made Demyx feel even more hollow than he had before.
A sigh escaped Demyx's lips as he just gave up. "They went to the kitchens," he muttered. His voice was barely audible, but knowing Saïx, the Luna Diviner probably heard it anyways.
[ooc; finally, my skillz are revived and I managed to pry my Demyx-muse off my Zexion-muse. XDD;;]

Number Nine’s disillusioned beliefs made him an easy target, it gave the other members of the Organization a reason to torture him so. And torture him they did. Anger, rage, hatred, those were the only emotions Nobodies could convey of their own volition. They were incapable of expressing anything more, unless it was a mere mockery of foolish sentiments.
Demyx - that quivering idiot - thought he was an exception to the rule. He was adamant that he already POSSESSED a heart, that it simply lay sleeping in his chest just waiting to be awakened. If he believed strong enough, surely his dreams would become realized! What whimsical nonsense. This was the reason he became the resident punching bag. He was weak, pathetic, good for only a cheap laugh or two. And as always, he could not keep a secret. So easily did he fold under the pressure of his superiors.
“The kitchen...” Saïx would quirk a brow. Axel had taken Roxas to the kitchen area? To fill his empty belly with sustenance? For what PURPOSE? The boy deserved no luxuries after putting such a damper on their plans. It had been delayed for far too long...
“Come along. To the kitchen we go.” He would direct Demyx with a quick glance in his general direction, turning to follow the long twisting corridors to an area one might not expect to find in a place like this. The kitchen, where many Nobodies came to feed their humanly instincts.
A part of him was less than surprised to find the area empty, a half eaten watermelon and the Organization’s own brand of soda sitting unattended on the table. They had indeed been here recently. Had Demyx not hesitated, he would have met their company.
A curious gaze shifted to the moon, where he half expected to see a slew of released hearts flutter to meet with the kingdom. Alas, there was none. Nothing at all.
“Perhaps this is a sign that this is not yet the time for me to approach him. Demyx. Will you hear your next task?”

Demyx looked up when Saïx directed him to follow. He hesitated, not wanting for either Axel or Roxas to find out that he had let the older Nobody know where they were. Then again, what was the point in defying the Luna Diviner? All that would happen if he did would be that Saïx would be angry and possibly try to kill him again. There really were no options for him.
Standing up, he cautiously followed his superior to the kitchen.
Upon arrival, the first thing that Demyx noticed was that Axel and Roxas were both gone. A small, quiet sigh of relief escaped him. Even if their friendship was nothing more than a ghost of something that could have been, it was something that held him together; if he were to lose that, his sanity would be lost as well. He had lost so many people in his past life, he was certain, that the loss of anyone would hurt him, regardless of not having a heart.
Saïx's voice caught his attention. Another task? How many of his superiors were going to give him orders today? He gave a hesitant nod, half-listening to the older Nobody. The rest of his attention was on his suddenly empty stomach. He reached for the loaf of bread that sat on a counter near by and pulled out a slice.

“It has become clear that I need to pay the Superior a visit. Details of the boys sudden change of ‘heart’ elude me, he needs to be made aware of what is going on.” Xemnas had methods of obtaining information that may seem unreachable to his brethren. To think Roxas had returned without alerting their master of his presence was absolutely UNHEARD of. Nothing happened behind the walls of their sanctuary without the knowledge of the Superior.
It was a bit... disheartening, for lack of a better term, that he did not have counsel with him, keeping him up to date with a basic understanding of the occurrences. However, he knew better than to question his motivations. He wouldn’t dare do so.
Saïx would pivot on the heels of his boots, a cold hand cupping the boys chin. Such was the way to keep his attention focused on one thing at a time... preferably away from the bread he was stuffing his face with. “Your loyalties to our Kingdom have been questionable many times in the past, little Sprite. Voices murmur of your lack of use to us. Is this true? Has your time here become stale and outdated? I don’t believe that. I believe your true powers need a bit of coaxing to come out. I’d be willing to help you. But first...” He tightened his hold, his sharpened fingernails nearly digging into the boys flesh, “...you need to prove yourself to me. We would be pleased if you were the one who punished Roxas for leaving us and threatening the very foundation of our plans. I care not HOW you do it. Just do it. Show him what happens to traitors.”
With that, he would turn away from the quivering kid, to begin the trek down the hall.

Roxas got the sudden impression that he was being purposely jerked around. He could almost feel the strings binding his joints, tugging him in precisely the direction the Organization needed him to go. Behind the walls of the castle, his actions were not his own. They strategically fit into a meticulous master plan created by the scheming Superior bent on making sure events continued to pull in his favor.
Axel carefully provided vital information that began to clear the overall picture of the realm he’d been unwillingly dragged into. However, he conveniently left out the most important answers he sought: what was HIS purpose there? Why did the keyblade appear to him and not someone more apt to handle the pressure? He’d gladly relinquish the power to Axel, if he wished it.
The boy took extra care to avoid looking into the emerald eyes of his ‘guide’ when he stepped into the visible ripple in space. Heart or no, he was angry with the prospect of being kept in the dark for no good reason. Frankly, he was sorely distrustful of Axel. The ‘feelings’ that stirred in the pit of his stomach may not necessarily mean that they were close acquaintances during his time spent there. For all he knew, the fire mage could have injected even MORE ‘false’ memories into his mind while he was unconscious, a perfect vulnerable state. What friend would continue to tug him along with no intention of bringing any more light to the situation than he had to.
He wasn’t a toy. He wasn’t a blank slate for them to manipulate however they wished, WHENEVER they wanted to. He was completely overwhelmed and Axel wasn’t helping.
Roxas followed in silence, consumed by his thoughts. By the time the two Nobodies stepped onto the damp floors beside the assigned individual rooms, his anger had grown apparent to the naked eye. Those closest to him might recognize the look: the way the bridge of his nose scrunched up in disgust, the dark red tint along his cheek bones. Some things didn’t change, no matter the circumstances.
His eyes flicked to the room marked ‘thirteen,’ supposedly his personal quarters. He briefly glanced up at Axel, speaking in a low, monotone voice that would betray nothing, “I’ve had enough. I just want to be left alone.” His lip somewhat curled, “...go away, Axel.”
‘I’m not a pawn in your game either.’
Inhaling a deep breath, he spun on his heels and bravely strolled through the door.
White nothingness - that’s what met Roxas on the other side. The floors, the walls, the small modest bathroom to his right, all free of color and any object that may bring life to the empty space. The “bed” was nothing more than a mattress thrown unceremoniously onto the floor: no blankets, no sheets, nothing of comfort. It was almost like someone didn‘t expect him to return.
He sadly drifted to the bed, lazily plopping down on the very edge with his legs folded indian style. With no memories of the past, he was simply taking Axel and Demyx’s word as fact, without fully investigating the possibilities himself. Roxas pulled his knees against his chest, resting his chin down on top.
There really wasn’t anyone he could trust. Once he accepted his fate, he could really begin to search for answers.
OOC: I imagined each of the rooms in the castle would shape themselves to match the memories of their owners, much like Castle Oblivion did in COM. Hence why Roxas’ room is pretty much blank and void of anything that may help him. Until he begins to recall his past, it will remain as such. I hope that makes some logical sense. XB

OOC: Yeah! That's perfect ^^ why didn't I think of that? hehe see ^^ this is why I wanted you to try your hand at labeling some surroundings too- great idea
IC: Axel watched closely at the careful transformation of feelings that warped through his charge's eyes. He almost felt some jealousy that Roxas was able to feel such defiance in lieu of his confusion. If such stirring throughts spurred on the other members of the organization, perhaps the order of their group would not be determined by the labeling of their leader
He slowed down his stride, surprised when the blonde seemed to take his own steps in front of him, to get closer to his room
his smiling jester eyes took a look of pity at the boy's curled lip, he could hardly open his mouth before No.13's mumble intterupted
"...go away, Axel"
Unsure what to do, unable to think of an act of emotion to use quick enough, he simply watched the younger member stride to his room to shut the labeled door
Afterall...there wasn't really a reason to stop him was there? Axel shook his head, he was getting in too deep; he was dealing with a newbie again, one who couldn't understand their feelings were empty and dead inside. In time, Roxas would see the light, as he had before... 'but will he leave again if the same scenario repeats itself?...'
DiZ had got a hold of the keyblader last time; that much was for certain, but being that Roxas originally fled regardless, was there any guarentee he would have come back if he still retained his memories?
Axel scratched his head painting on any empathy he could; despite the fact he now stood alone in the hallway "ahhh-ah geeze, You're giving me a headache Roxas"
'I'm...tired of trying to figure out what your thinking' he sighed to himself Time to put the ole avatar back on- his cheshire cat smirk
"That was kinda cold of you Rox" he laughed, walking away "...reminds me of the old you already..." he whispered dejectedly
Well, it wasn't a crime for the blonde to be in his room; he could hardly master his powers as it was- being overtaken by such petty heartless, there was no point in standing guard any longer. If he wanted to be alone... alone he would be

Demyx's eyes widened as Saïx's fingers clenched his chin, yelping when the stronger Nobody's grip tightened and dropping his bread. Gods above, or below, why was he the one that everyone ordered around? He wasn't as useless as they thought he was and it wasn't a very good feeling knowing that everyone thought that he was.
He listened to what Saïx said, knowing that the blue-haired Nobody would be angry if he didn't.
"What?!" he asked, horrified that Saïx would even suggest that Demyx punish Roxas. "I-I can't--" he let his mouth snap shut before his words could get him into too much trouble. He nodded quickly, hoping that Saïx would fall for his false agreement.
Demyx's mind was yelling at him to deny his order, to completely defy Saïx. Another part of him argued that if he did, he would killed, or worst, Dusked. He squeezed his eyes shut, praying silently that his mind would simply shut up.
What was he going to do? If he punished Roxas, then there would be no getting the younger blond to trust him ever again. If he didn't, Saïx would surely come after him.

Ugh, he could stand his company no longer. The youngster seemed to distance himself from the prime objective, afraid to put forth the energy required to achieve their goal. Demyx’s use to the Organization had always been questionable. He reverted to using primitive strategies when events didn’t go as planned, worse than a child.
There was only one positive point he could bring to mind that would convince Xemnas to keep him around. He never would he betray Kingdom Hearts and the power that lay inside the strength glowing in the eternally night sky. Salvation. A means to regain their lost ‘human’ essence. WHAT prize was better than what their precious kingdom had to offer? Surely he would not choose an illusionary ‘friendship’ over the rewards waiting for them?
“Enjoy your afternoon snack. Think about what I said.” Saïx’s boot became entangled in the damp cloak laying crumbled on the floor. He used little force to kick it toward the melodious nocturne, adding one last thing before he took his leave, “Have Roxas dress appropriately.” By the time he uttered the last word, he had disappeared around one of the many corners of the twisting corridor.
His next intention was to visit the Superior, to uncover what he had known all along.

Shame they had to start at ground zero with the little munchkin. It had been a LONG while since Xemnas found him huddled alone in the woods of Twilight Town, newly "borne" into the world. They may have been dealing with a "newbie" of sorts again, but unfortunately circumstances were different this time around.
Their resident keywielders mind was no longer a blank slate. DiZ created a new history for him, replacing the information they engrained in his subconscious with a few tweaks here and there, like his head was a dry erase board that he could toy with however he saw fit. Tch, and they were considered bad guys? He made the poor kid live in a fantasy world with fake people and places! Their mad scientist of a mentor did what he could to keep Roxas out of commission for as long as it took to correct the wrongs committed against Sora in Castle Oblivion. Didn't count on them having enough resources to reclaim him though, did he? Heh, heh.
When they first recruited number thirteen, the upper six echelons carefully taught him everything he would need to know in order to fulfill his purpose. Didn’t have that luxury now. Their members were dwindling. He couldn’t remember numbers being THIS low since HE joined. In short, no one was going to gently coddle the kid into submission. If they got lucky, maybe they could hack into the data DiZ implanted and utterly destroy it. Xigbar had his own personal methods to achieve that end. Wouldn’t be pleasant for the runt, but... meh, who really gave a flying rats ass? There was WORK to be done!
Xiggy LOOOOVED to eavesdrop. He did just that during the reunion between Axel, Roxas and Demyx, following them to the kitchens and then there, outside the array of numbered bedrooms. The scene could NOT have played out better for him if he commanded it so. Axel strolled away with a rather defeated look on his face, leaving his responsibility behind. Whew, some things never changed. Kid still had a nasty temper.
Two intimidating weapons took their place in his hands, shimmering in the light of the hallway. Should have been able to see the reflections of nearby objects against their exterior; he just finished polishing the crap out of them. No dents or dings were going to tarnish THOSE beauties! Not on HIS watch.
Xigbar intended to scare the living DAYLIGHTS out of the boy, maybe bring him back down to reality a bit. He always withdrew into that head of his. Being Number Two, he had no issue getting into the room labeled ‘thirteen.’ To the naked eye, it looked like he pulled the trigger on each gun once, but the barrage of arrows that jetted toward the boy made the observation improbable. Those were real arrows with metal caps that cut through the skin as easily as paper. Good thing his aim was not to castrate him. The sharpened points caught his clothing, pinning him against the wall.
He needed his full attention.
“Good evening there, Roxas. So glad we can finally be alone.”

Roxas did not favor sitting idly. Too often did he withdraw into his mind when he had no better way to occupy the time he was given. He could no longer ignore the hollow ache creeping up on him, sitting on the cold white sheets in the thirteenth room. The boy's arms tightened around his knees, the only temporary comfort he could grasp. These were not topics he wanted to consider in the seclusion he arranged away from the figures in black. He desperately willed his memories to open and remind him of this place and its people, to give him the smallest indication why he should be here.
Kingdom Hearts.... Did he not get a flash of the uniquely shaped moon in the darkness behind the lids of his eyes when he first gazed upon the satellite? And Axel... His face, the irritation he 'felt' every time the redhead opened his mouth, they each stirred familiar sensations in his gut. Number Eight did not object when he referred to them as 'old friends,' yet he proved to be as diabolical as the rest of them. Roxas' shoulders twitched with forced laughter. He couldn't blame him for the way he was. He had no heart. Did he know what was right, and what was wrong? What was morally just or an unsuitable way of behaving? If only there was no variety to create an opaque understanding of the two very different social conducts.
All things considered, whether he possessed an essence of his own or not, he was still there. They all were. Did that alone not give them the right to exist as everyone should?
Roxas leaned back against the sweaty palms of his hands, tiling his head back to catch light from the florescent bulbs above him. Things change. People change to a degree. But unanswered questions live on, gaining momentum and strength the longer they were ignored. They never went away.
Thoughts abruptly scattered when he heard a vivid buzzing sound rapidly fly by his ear. The perpetrator could not be uncovered quickly enough. The keyblader could do little more than gasp in shock as the material of his clothing was pinned to the wall. The arrows spaced themselves out perfectly, arranged in such a way that he could not wiggle free. A darkness settled over his icy blue eyes, making them glow with a malice only a heartless being could portray.
“Let me go.” He growled coldly, glaring at the one-eyed psycho. “What do you want?”

"Hey, your givin’ me that LOOK! Reminds me of OLD times!" Hard to believe he wasn't the same kid. May be identical in appearance, but he returned from the ordeal forever changed. Still, heh, heh, kinda funny to see the evil eye again. Before all the crap hit the fan, the kid used to glare at him like that every time they casually passed each other in the hallway. It was because he purposely picked at sensitive subjects to cause discord between them. Hey, had to keep things fresh SOME how.
Xigbar traced the barrel of his gun along number thirteen's temple. Life was unerringly beautiful and simple, when narrowed down and focused in the crosshairs of a high-powered rifle. "You better be glad I'm in a good mood today. It'd be a shame if I had to summon a horde of dusk to adjust your attitude. They're kinda peeved at you for leaving in the first place. My guess is they'd be all over you like starving rats on a cheeto if I gave them a choice." He snorted at his own analogy, "Cheer up, huh? Things could be worse. TRUST me." With a snap of his fingers, the arrows vanished, dumping the kid back on the mattress.
"Wanna know how I got this scar?" Xiggy turned the barrel of the gun on himself, tapping it against the jagged rip forever embedded in the flesh of his cheek. Heehee, it was a SEXY battle wound. Ladies SWOONED when he flashed 'em with it. "It was during a struggle with the last member of our Organization who decided to defy me. I pulled the guys intestines out through his nostrils and HUNG him with them!"
He paused dramatically, coolly waving the weapons away. "Actually, I just fabricated that. But it's a d**n good idea, don't you think? I'll have to keep that one in mind, maybe use it on the NEXT uncooperative cohort. Or a pet who's being insubordinate." He patted Roxas on the head for added emphasis.
“At any rate, you’re probably wondering why I graced you with my presence. Thought you and me could take a little trip. How does Twilight Town, sound?”

The circumstances had reached a volatile point, where events had the potential to take a disastrous turn for the worse. Roxas inhaled sharply, holding the restrained breath steady in the back of his throat. He feared if he made a sudden movement, he might set Xigbar off. He was in no position to object to the humiliation he suffered, not while cold steel waved dangerously close to vital organs.
He was tempted to urgently repeat the question he posed previously, but decided against it. If the man wanted to respond, he would have done so already. What was going on? It appeared he had stalked him, waiting for the moment when Axel left him to fend for himself. Even if the Flurry of Dancing Flames had stayed behind, his standing did not permit him to interfere with the activity of his superiors, no matter how abhorrent it might prove to be.
The arrows dissolved, releasing the taut hold they had on the material of his clothing. Slack gave way and he dropped down onto the mattress, keeping a steady glare cast at the “intruder.” He had difficulty preserving the cold façade he personified the longer the scarred man spoke. The encounter made him nervous; he couldn’t predict the outcome, nor what may happen in the next instant. His grasp on control steadily slipped out of reach. He didn’t like it one bit...
Whatever the reason behind the personal visit, his mood clearly aimed to intimidate.... possibly into submission? It was working... He found himself claming up, contrary to how he wished he could react to the malicious conversation.
Xigbar suggested they soothe his homesickness by venturing BACK to the town they just KIDNAPPED him from. His own attitude shifted to quiet surprise, eyebrows arched high in question. Did... Did he hear that correctly? To confirm, he repeated what he thought had been uttered, “...T, Twilight Town?” He would not let himself get excited. “You’d... let me visit? Why?”

"Why? Are you serious?" Xigbar erupted into highly amused laughter, clapping the kid on the shoulder, "I don't know if I should be offended at the insinuation behind your question or pleased that you're starting to realize your place here. Believe it or not, I don't have anything diabolical in mind. Call this... a goodwill gesture, if you will. Nothin' more."
Of course, his statement was filled with half truths. Hopefully he made it sound convincing enough. Indeed he had a certain ulterior motive brewing within his cranium. Showing Roxas the state of the true Twilight Town would start bringing him around, helping him realize that although they were considered the bad guys by a minority of the populace, they were also the victims of a man blinded by the desire for revenge. The distinction between good versus evil was becoming more and more subjective.
Xigbar rubbed his thumb and middle finger together, snapping through the material of his glove. It summoned tendrils of dark energy which curled and climbed up the wall where he had been pinned a moment earlier. “This is not an offer you have to accept at all. It is up to your discretion. You think I have ill intentions, then all you have to do is speak the word and that’ll be that. ‘Course, this is a one time deal. I’m doing this under the rug, our boss won’t hear anything about it.”
His grin became a little tighter, more defined, “If you want to go and don’t trust me, we could always invite one of your loser friends. Hey, I have no issue with that.”
