As the ongoing waves continued to meet the land spread with golden sand, Kairi let a small sigh escape from her lips. She knew school ended their lunch break in about half an hour and that she would have to be pulled away from the peace and quiet of the waves, only to return to the noisy and utter nonsense of the classroom back in town. This is where she came whenever she got the chance. There was a strange feeling that came over her whenever she looked out beyond the waves. It was almost like she left the world in her mind where her boring, normal life always stayed. She could barely remember whether she had ever had a fun childhood on this island. All she could remember was school, and her local girl friends. But at some moments, when everything else was quiet except the gentle waves, the fiery red haired girl could swear that she heard a voice calling to her. She didn't know who or where the voice was, but she knew that she could her it, and it only made her mind fill up with thought once again. Who was it that was that trying to call to her? What did they want? Kairi could only set down her bag on the sandy ground beneath her feet and sit herself down next to it,sitting only with her thoughts to keep her company.

The islands were exactly like she had seen when the world had been recreated at Castle Oblivion, formed by Sora's memories and made with the aid of a card. She wasn't sure though, of her way here. She had been on the play island when she had visited the recreated world and not on the main island.
Wandering around, Naminé shortly found her way to the beach. Looking around, she spotted another girl at the beach, a pretty petite red-head. The other girl was watching the waves, so Naminé didn't thinks she could see her. She watched the girl for a minute, knowing exactly who she was.
This girl was the reason she existed. If it hadn't been for Kairi's heart, Naminé would never have been created. She was looking at her origin, her other half, the part of her that still had a heart. Deep down, she envied Kairi for having a heart.
She stepped closer, her sandals making the softest noises in the sand. It was strange, coming face to face with her Other. She didn't know what to say to Kairi, how to explain her presence, who she was, or why she was there. She didn't even know how to greet her. How does one greet their other self?
Naminé hoped that Kairi would notice her before she had to announce herself; it would save her the trouble of figuring out how to do so.
